Five tips to shore up your finances NorthJersey.com

The stock market is swinging wildly and the economy is barely registering a pulse. And that presents some opportunities for consumers.

For anyone who still has some financial flexibility, here are five moves worth considering:

1. Strengthen retirement savings

Even if it feels a bit uncomfortable, the best time to buy stocks is when prices are low. And the stock market remains down by several measures; the Dow Jones industrial average is down 7.4 percent this year, the Standard & Poor's 500 index is down 10.9 percent and the Nasdaq is down 10.2 percent.

Some stock prices are low for a good reason. But even companies with strong earnings got swept up in the sell-off. So if you already own shares of a company you believe in, buying more at a lower price would reduce your average cost per share.

Another option is simply to reallocate how the assets in your 401(k) are invested. If you typically have 60 percent of your portfolio in stocks, for example, you might feel it's worth pushing that figure up to 65 percent. That means more of your money will be positioned to grow when the market rebounds.

Can the finance company refinance my car without my consent?

I found out the car had been refinanced when I went to get a new car. I brought the car through drive time and they are the ones who financed me. I have received no corrrespondence from them saying the car was refinanced either.

Go back and read the papers you signed when you got financing in the first place, it's in there. It's very common for lenders to sell the note to another company and they don't have to notify you or get your permission, your signature on the loan application gave them permission to do so. The only thing that changes from your viewpoint is a different name and address to send the payment to.

No.........and you should call drivetime because they are known for doing many things that are illegal.

are you sure it was refinanced, and not sold to another company? that happens all the time. and yes they can sell their notes to another company without your consent.

What is the best way (or best company) to refinance my car?

How do i refinance a car with bad credit?

i want to refinance my car so i can put it under my own name. It's under my husband's name.
I am making all the payment so it might as well be under my name.
I bought the car 5 month ago .Is it too soon to refinance ?
and can anyone suggest any car refinancing companies?
Thanks.

It's not refinance..... it's just financing. You have to apply for a normal loan then buy out your husband's note. You'll probably end up paying more due to your bad credit. Why don't you just leave it be and concentrate on fixing your credit first?

just be careful out there, its a jungle, someone will try to make a bundle off of you if you let them

The best rates and options will most likely be with a bank. Talk to your bank, and others in the area, and find out your options.

Go back to the bank that has the current loan and ask them what you need to do to transfer the loan to your name only.

My guess is that it will take qualifying for the loan on your income only, and there will be fees you will have to pay.

You CAN get a decent car loan, even with bad credit. I've done it, but you'll have to look around. That's one of the BIG mistakes people make...just taking the first offer that's given to them when they go to the dealer. Be smarter than that.

WARNING: DON'T GO TO BUY A CAR WITHOUT HAVING THE LOAN FIRST. The auto dealers will eat you alive and give you a crappy rate. Shop around with lenders who specialize in bad credit car loans. It's a better option, you don't have to take what they're offering if you don't want it, and it's better than dealing with the car dealer's people.

There are usually some nationally based car loan companies who specialize in bad credit car loans who advertise on the page linked below...

what is the name of the company that refinances car title loans?

I ran into some financial problems lately. Stupidly, I went to a car title pawn. Big mistake. I pawned my car title. I once heard a commercial on the radio that refinances car title loans. At the time I was not interested. Now I am. Does anyone know of a company that refinances title car loans? Is there a website? Thanks for your help.

Sorry but that will only make it worse by taking first principal and adding their interest and you will have a car payment just to keep car from getting repoed not only by lender but you can not get back even if you have full amount. It will just get worse.

yeah i know a compay that would refinance your title car loan, that too with lower rates of interest compared to other companies. Go for it, it would help you out.. http://www.refinancing101.net/
thanks..

Anyone know the best way/company to refinance house or car?

My husband and I got ourselves into a VERY tight finacial situation and need to pay some things off. I need some extra cash, like yesterday. Any thoughts?

Use a credit Union if you have access to one. They are fair, honest and usually below market if you qualify.

yes you can go through ditech.com or sloan mortgage group

Call up Country Wide Home Loan because the fed just dropped the interest rate by a quarter percent. Refinanicing your house would be best and you would get the lowest interest rate without a huge payment like you would if you refinance your car.

Check out http://www.bankrate.com. It is a great place to compare lenders and check out different mortgate types. Also, you can learn everything you ever wanted to know about loans. There are average rate listings, loan calculators, etc. I've found the cheapest rates for my mortgages there. Always do your research, though, on what other fees the lender charges before you start any loan application.

Best of luck!

What company can refinance a car with bad credit? My credit score is 577?

I'd first like to repond to those people who have gave me their input maybe I should add that I CAN afford my car I'm not behind on my payments, or even late etc as anybody who is trying to put money in their pocket -I was wondering if I can get a better interest rate and a lower payment- as far as showing off- I have a Nissan Altima and if that's showing off I'd like to see what you're driving.

Anyway to avoid these type of comments let me add that my score is low but I have been paying my debt monthly and am current with all my creditors

Autop finance is what I do for a living.

Try Capital-One, H.S.B.C., Wells Fargo and Citifinancial Auto Finance.

They are my best lenders.

I would suggest seriously reconsidering before you do it. There's a reason your credit is poor - refinancing may not be your best option! Maybe it's too much car for your budget and downsizing would be better. You;ll never get out of debt by just shuffling your existing debt around!

obviously, you got a cart you couldn't afford. stop trying to impress and get something you can afford next time.

If you think that you are paying a higher repayment amount for your existing car loan<!--then you can bring it down. With the help of refinance car loans, you can switch the loan plan with effective loan management.

If you think your lender is charging a higher interest rate on your car loans then you can look at the refinance car loans option. With the help of a refinance car loan, you can avail multiple benefits. Firstly, you may reduce-->your monthly costs. Secondly, you may avail a competitive interest rate. Thirdly, you could be getting a flexible repayment period. Overall, you will be managing your loan a lot better.

What is the best company to try to refinance a car with?

I dont have horrible credit, but it is sorta bad.

It all depends on your credit score. sometimes credit unions are a good deal, but if you reach a certain credit score (above 700) some private banks would give you a better deal, like bank of america, washington mutual, etc.

Do anyone know any auto refinance company that will refinance a 2001 model car?

No, you will be very hard pressed to find someone that will refinance an 01. There are probably a few things against you. It's not only 8 years old but probably has over 80K miles on it. It has to do with the age of the car. They don't want to finance something that could possibly die on them, not a good investment for them.

Does anyone know a good company for auto refinance w/bad credit?

Need help weeding through the sea of bullsh** ads for a good company to refinance my car. Credit is not so great. Does anyone know a good company?

It depends on what you mean by bad credit. Just your credit score? Do you have collections? Bankruptcy? There are things that lenders take into account other than credit score.

But sadly, in this market, the lenders are tightening up and not giving good deals to those applications with "bad credit."

With that being said, I'd try HSBC and Americredit. If you want to hit a lot lenders at once, try a refinance company like LendingTree or eLoans.
