BAIER (on-camera): Good evening. I'm Bret Baier. After pounding Puerto Rico and battering the Bahamas, Hurricane Irene is heading for the U.S. mainland. Tourists and residents in some North Carolina counties have been told to leave, and that states governor has joined two others in issuing emergency declarations. Senior national correspondent, John Roberts, is in Kitty Hawk, North Carolina where the storm is headed and where it has already been.

JOHN ROBERTS, FOX NEWS SENIOR NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT (voice-over): In the Bahamas, it wasn't even a fair fight. Irene taking aim at islands that are barely above sea level with winds to top 115 miles per hour. Fox News, Phil Keating, was on the air from Nassau as the worst of Irene came in.
